What to Look For
Radish should be smooth, firm but tender, free from abrasions, and uniform in shape and colour. Bunched radishes should have fully intact tops that are dark-green with no yellowing. Slight wilting is acceptable.
- 95% - 100% Relative Humidity
Radishes should be kept as cool as possible without freezing (-1°C). Radish is often topped with ice during storage and transport to maintain temperature and moisture. Under these conditions, quality remains acceptable for 7 to 14 days.
Bunched radishes are much more difficult to keep fresh due to the perishability of the tops.
Response to Ethylene
Radishes are not sensitive to ethylene, however, the green tops will yellow with prolonged exposure.
