What to Look For

The best grapes are firm, plump and securely attached to the stem.

Avoid grapes that show signs of decay, shriveling, stickiness, or dry and brittle stems.

Green grapes are sweetest when the colour has a yellowish or amber cast or tinge. This does not indicate poor quality but rather it is indicative of a high sugar content.

Red grapes are sweetest when they are predominantly red.

Ideal Storage

  • -1.0°C - 0°C
  • 90 - 95% Relative Humidity

Grapes are highly perishable in nature and will have a shelf life of about 7 days under 5°C.

Store grapes away from items such as onions or green onions as they can absorb odors.

Response to Ethylene

Grapes are not very sensitive to ethylene.
