What to Look For

A good quality blackberry should be clean, plump, and a deep black colour.

A red or light purple berry indicates that the fruit is not ready to be eaten.

Overripe berries are dull, leaky, and soft.

Ideal Storage

  • -0.5°C - 0.5°C
  • 90 - 95% Relative Humidity

Blackberries should be stored for 2-5 days and can be frozen for longer storage.

Blackberries are susceptible to water loss which results in shrivelling. Maintaining the right humidity minimizes water loss.

Response to Ethylene
